Description

  • Hang only from attached hangers. Do not use wire to hang.
  • Arrives in 7 to 10 Business Days, Direct to Your Home or Business
  • Sentinel at Dawn 48x32 from Artist Marianna M. Duford
  • The original watercolor was created in her studio in the mountains of Summit County, CO
  • I was getting ready to paint a painting of these beautiful creatures for the Wildlife Heritage Foundation's Stamp competition and needed my own photos to work from as copyright laws prohibit an artist from reproducing another's images, photographic or painted
  • There are herds of Antelope that roam the open ranges of Northern Colorado and Wyoming and I set out on a photo expedition in my 4 wheel drive to see if I could find some to photograph
  • I came across this herd near Kremmling as the sun was just appearing in distant hills
  • Lone males, the sentinel, can almost always be spotted keeping guard over the grazing herd. They make a frightening, sharp, loud, metallic sound, which is reminiscent of the snorting dinosaurs in the movie, "Jurassic Park" to put the group into flight
  • I guess I was pretty scary, myself...but I got my photos to paint from!
  • This is a canvas print derived from an original painting

Marianna M. Duford...an artist with wanderlust. A bit of a gypsy and lifelong artist, Marianna, brings her love of the outdoors to her art and everything that she does. She doesn't limit her artwork to just one medium and likes to let the inspiration decide whether it would be better in watercolor, oils or acrylics. Her love of plein air painting and travel have been the perfect marriage. Art and travel forays have taken her from Italy to Africa, the Mayan Coast to Portugal, Florida to California, Maine and the Bahamas and in between. The South Island of New Zealand to Tasmania and back again.

Always, upon returning home to Colorado she wonders why she had to go so far to be inspired when she is surrounded by beauty every day of the year! Marianna lives in Silverthorne with her patient and loving husband, Bill, and golden retriever, Jessie.
